Saw these installed on a fellow seahawk owners boat and thought they were very cool. Going to have to get some of these for my rigg! Anytime something acts as a dual purpose on a boat, thats a good thing in my book.

looks great.....but is that deep enough for a rod holder?

They are dual purpose. I like that you can just drill a hole straight down on these also, instead of having to drill a specific angle. There a little pricy but if you were replacing or adding rod holders and cup holders, it wouldn't really be more expensive.

I'm going to start with two added between my gunnel rod holders that are there now. Be nice to grab the rod when a fish is on and have a place to put my beer!:)

Here is the link if you want to look at them.

They also offer an all ABS plastic model in either black or white for $20 each.
I now NEED four of these.
In white.
Thats $80.00 .
And another $80.00 in stainless backing plates.
That's $160.00

THANKS A LOT for posting this....sheesh ! ;)

I think you would only need the backing plates if you are fishing big game. Atleast they offer a cheaper alternative with the abs. Going to have to go with the stainless here though. Even if its one at a time, lol

Chris, finally read through your build thread a week or so ago. That boat just keeps getting "cooler" and "cooler" ... nice work.

Re: Very COOL rod/beer holders

Thank you VERY much for this post!

I need to install a couple of rod holders at the front of my boat, a Dual Console bowrider type boat.

What's even better than the cup holder part for me is that you can get them with a drain feature that attaches to a hose, that I can run past my lockers and cockpit back to the bilge.

"Use 1/4" NPT fittings for easy drain connection"

NICE reel...Beer is expendable, collateral damage when a tuna is on!

Kev,

You just don't like the idea that they'd double the value of your boat!

(I'm guessing you're not supposed to...)

What a great idea. No more "Hold my beer!!" when the reel screams! just a quick grab and drop w the rod and beer!!:D and if the fight is long and you get thirsty your beers right there. Looks like room for a huggy too, to keep it cool on those hot days offshore.

You can’t use them as a drink holder and a rod holder at the same time. That alone would rule them out on my boat. :D

I could see them being used on a leaning post or a location that wasn’t actively used for fishing. Just can't see putting them on the gunwale in place of an active rod holder.

Ding Bat, I love calling you that, lol You have a very similar boat as mine, I think it beats drilling extra holes in the limited gunnel space for some cup holders. It would be nice when that rod bends over, to just grab the rod and place your beer right there next to you.

These one the IBEX Innovation Award in 2010. Most of the top boat manufactures are offering these as OEM now. There listed on there site. They also have alot of pics on there site. I wish I thought of these, I could retire by now!:D
