Thanks, lncoop......I get all "gitty" when someone invites me out in their boat. Kinda like a cabbie getting chauffeured around in a limo, regardless of the size limo!

I have more health care than three families could use, I go to the VA to get care, its better than my civilian docs have time to give me. they always have to squeeze a visit into a copay allotment. My civilian h/c pays the VA anyway. 100% dav.

I'm glad to hear you recieve the same good treatment as I do, wajajaja. The staff at the Med Center treat me like family. They know what I do and what I like. They seem to be interested in my personal life sometimes more than any facility I've ever been to.

Your quote from Tim McGraw? That song made me cry when I first heard it. I never shed one tear from learning the news or throughout treatment. I was sitting on the porch months after treatment, but still recovering, when it came on the radio. He put words to what I was thinking at the time. A bittersweet moment I will never forget. Live long and love often.

Good Luck!....in all you do.

Re: Veterans Administration Medical Centers

Hey sasto, just found this thread. Three years is AWESOME!!! After hangin' with you and Kimi for several days, and seeing no signs of the hardship you'd gone through, the clean bill of health comes as no suprise to me. That does not, however, detract one bit from the happiness it brings to me!!! I'm at work right now, and given the time (0511hrs), I'll wait till I get home and my family all wakes up to share your fantastic news. We can't wait to get together with you and Kimi again!!! Gonna be another incredible time!!! Anyway... I guess Independance Day now has a dual meaning for you!!!:D Your time on this earth is far from done, sasto. You are a shining example for others. This world needs more people like you. I thank the Good Lord for allowing you the fortitude to carry on!!! I'll speak to you soon, my brother... And I'll see you in September!!!

I too just saw this thread. CONGRATULATIONS CAPTAIN!
I have a somewhat selfish reason for being happy for you....meeting you and going fishing are on my bucket list!!!

I think our veterans deserve the best medical care their is, no thanks needed for that.

It's too bad it takes something traumatic to teach us to live for the moment.
6 1/2 yrs ago I got the you know what scared out of me. Went to the doc for a funny feeling in my chest and severe dizziness, wore a monitor for 24 hrs. The cardiologist called and said you have to come in immediately, you have ventricular tachycardia you could drop dead any minute. After every test in the book they found nothing wrong so now I just live with it and it's a occasional reminder.

I don't wish serious health issues on anyone but what a wonderful perspective it does add to life.

Sasto, I believe I hear Salt Cay calling!

Thanks, Swabbie.

I do live more carefree these days. I literally don't care about much except the safety of others under my watch. But, that's my job. Either at work or for all God's people.

I haven't planned any trips to the Carib anytime soon , but plan on taking my Lady to the Bahamas this summer. I have some close friends there and she would enjoy it. I've been scanning photos of one of my trips to the Carib and considering posting a chronicle here on iboats. It would be a permanent thread that my friends and family would enjoy. I'd bet there are some here that will make the trip someday, they just don't know it yet.

Glad to hear your healthy. Keep up the good work, my friend!:D

I would have to say it is amazing how 2 guys...with no other social networking or expierence...find each other here on iboats.

The love is welcome, as ours for you and your family are too.

Tears anyone? :D

My boat will make to the Bahamas. Hell, I'm already in Daytona. When do we go? All I need is a passport and a pair of board shorts, right? Maybe a yellow quarrantine flag?

:D, aspeck! She is very lovable. We certainally enjoy you, while you were here and your humurous and clever posts, which I show Kimi. Looking foreward to you and your's return.

Thoughts and prayers for the aspec family. Keep up the good work you do and the time you spend for others. Some may never know.... I do!

I have some free time, Fireman. I have the flags needed. Your boat would be perfect! About 60 miles from me and we will be there. I'm waiting for the go-ahead to start preparation.

My oncologist at the VA is an avid boater and fisherman and he understood the importance to me to be able to return to the sea, which has become a big part of my life. Some of my therapy was working on his boat. His is amazed at the outcome of his and mine efforts to make this happen.

Kimi and talk often about how the mind is a wonderful thing. I rarely recall any of the hardships I went thru. I do recall the lengths a good friend went thru when he put his own family aside and nursed me back to health. I put great value on my new friends here and my old ones as well.

One thing about where I live that many places in the US can't do. We can go north, south, east, or west in a boat.....forever! Let's go southeast, freelancer, thru the Bahamas. the Turks and Caicos and onto the Carib. Or we can go west then head to Mexico, Central and South America then up the Carib and thru the Bahamas. Your coice, bro!

Sir.....Can I be your Captain?....Sir!
Well, it seems we we had to meet somehow... I'm glad it was through iboats!!! It is, indeed, quite amazing how neither of us had ever participated in any form of this computer forum stuff, and end up getting together as we did. What's even more amazing to me, is that all of us who got together in St Augustine, felt the same way. We started out just wanting to have a one day "meet the guys I've been posting with", and end up with several friends.

Sir??? Who you callin' sir???... And I'm not talkin' anything as big as Fireman's boat. I want something in the 27 or 28' range with an 8'6" beam and a nice deep deadrise. I need a trailerable boat; but still need to be able to handle the ocean with my family aboard. Uhhh... and I havn't hit the lottery or inherited gobbs of money or any such wonderful fantasy.;) It would be nice, though, huh?

Yes it is amazing, veritas honus.

Keep up the hard work, buddy, someday you will make it, and you may still want that trailerable boat.

I have another Dr. appointment Monday and I'm done with them for 6 months. For over 3 years I've had to go every 3 months to 3 different doctors. Lucky 3's I see!

My dentist found a cavity that needs filling. Not normally a big thing, but for me it is. They pulled 7 molars a couple years ago due to the fact the chemo ate them up and I couldn't brush my teeth for over a year. 1 cavity in over 2 years is somewhat a miracle. My teeth have pulled thru.:D

I'm makin' it every day of my life!!!... Makin' it through, makin' it better, makin' it easier, makin' it harder, ect... I don't think my "someday" is too far off.:) I've been looking at walk-around cuddy's and express cruisers and I think I'll be able to get what I want within 5 years. In the meantime, my Chaparral is a beautiful blessing for my family. The kids are never happier than when they're on the boat, or simply talking about boating!!! Sound familiar?;)

Done for 6 months is fantastic!!!:D You're a rock, sasto... with a heart of gold.
Ever sit on the beach and just watch the waves? They come in sets of three... Three sets of three!!! The human gestation period is nine months... Three trimesters. Everything you do in life comes back to you threefold, good, bad, or indifferent (There's three more for ya!!!);)

One cavity in over two years is great, considering what your teeth have been through. Glad your teeth pulled through. You know very well how much better that is than pulled out!!!

Come on September!!!
