How many veterans do we have at iboats? Let us know, if you like. At the least tell us what branch, and any additional info you are comfortable with.

I was in the Coast Guard from 87 to 94. Stationed in Monterey, CA. Freeport, NY at Jones Beach. and Williamsburg, VA. Lots of great memories! Anybody else stationed at these places during this time?

jmarr@native-air.com

U.S. Navy 1959-1981.
Stationed on many different pointy-ended things, (called ships) from carriers to destroyers. Enjoyed most all of it.

Hey JB, I was in the last class for training on vacuum tubes at Millington. Went to AV A school there in 75. Don't see much of tubes anymore.

U.S. Coast Guard
1979 - 1996
(I was one of the guys that took that new "early out" early retirement plan that was approved by Congress)
I was a Yeoman First Class (E-6) and stationed at:
Cape May, NJ
Petaluma, CA
Governors Island, NY (aka "The Rock")
Cleveland, OH
Buffalo, NY
Boston, MA
...and oddly enough: Topeka KS! (yeah, I know... what the heck is the Coast Guard doing in the middle of Kansas?!? Well, it's THE main personnel and payroll center for the entire Coast Guard. Since I got into computer programming and databases, they sent me there. Strange place. Strange town....)

Butch Ammon

Hey there, Butch. I spent a year at Governors Island in '90 at the boat yard. One of the neatest CG stations there ever was. Broke my heart when they sold it. :)

Hey there! A fellow "Coastie"!!

Yeah, GI was okay but they had cockroaches so big you could put them on a leash! I was on Governors Island from 1980-1983 and have lots of memories. One of the sad memories is the many times I have been IN the World Trade Center. Some of the NY Firemen were actually USCG Reservists and I knew a few of them too. :(

Good to hear from you!

Butch Ammon
