Re: Volvo 4.3 Fuel Consumption

Well the "4 hours' per tank is calculated when your at 3100 rpms constantly.
But when your crusing around, and stopping/ idling and tubing and gunning it to get on plane... it will all vary the gallons used.

I have a 19 foot bowrider with a merc v-6 and with 4 hours of engine RUNNING time i use about 10 gallons, but that is a whole day of tubing and skiing with alot of Hole shots.

How many hours of running time did you put on the boat.... not that amount of time you were at the lake.

My 3.0(not fuel injected) gets around 3 gph cruising at 2500 rpms. My 40 hp 2 cycle outboard gets around 2 gallons per hour putt putting along at 8 mph

It's just like driving a car. You take it easy, you get better mileage.

I have ~20 gallons on board and that'll last me two full days on the water, easy. I use regular unleaded and throw some startron in and end up swimming and hanging out more than driving.

That being said, your consumption does seem a little high.
