That is going to depend on what modell DP you have, the tool shown above by Coastal cruiser will not work on many models. Only the DP-S models. And the OEM models don't cost near that much either.
Sure there is, you can use channel lock pliars to remove it. Not that easy, but possible. Being a 2000, you probably have a DP-S drive. But they cost a lot less than 125 bucks.
I will get the number for you here shortly.
That was a really dumb thing for ME to say.
There are several different drives you could have. If you don't know what you have, no one here can tell you what tool you need for the props.
Pictures or drive serial numbers are the only way anyone here can tell you what you have and/or need as far as a prop tool.
I have a 2000 DP. found a cheap solution. Buy a short section of 2" pipe at the hardware store and cut 4 notches in it to match the nut. Use a pipe wrench in the pipe to unscrew the nut- works like a champ. Total cost- $2.00.
the tool I ordered was $22 but the $2 pipe is a great idea. I called Volvo Canada, they wanted $160 and $60 for both tools! I called the guy back and told him they are available for much less he then said he could get one for $27 after I already ordered the less expensive one online. Now I have to pay shipping, exchange, and gst-pst.
