When I first start the motor the idle is at 600rpm. Then after it warms up it goes to 800rpm. Then later it'll be back at 600rpm and then, 800 then, 750. Not sure why it's not consistently at 600.

Yes, you need to re-adjust the throttle cable at the engine end. Your cable is showing signs of internal wear.

Just adjust the cable end on the end of the throttle cable so it pushes the throttle to idle when warm.

Yes, timing is stable. I re-adjusted the throttle cable at the engine end and adjusted ever so slightly the engine idle screw. That did the trick. Slightly lower idle and slight pre-load on the throttle cable and it shifts like a dream. Thanks Don S.
