Thanks guys, I've never messed with the switch in question so I went looking for the info and posted most of it above.
piperca, what drive model and trim gauge do you currently have and did you plan on changing to different style gauge as they technically have two designed trim sending units...One for analog and the other for digital. Analog = 2 wire sending unit & Digital = 3 wires.
In theory you shouldn't need the two wires in question due to your trim sending unit to gauge wire should be connected to the engines 10 pin cannon plug which is normally separate from the "power" trim wires. < That is on gas engines...Not sure about the diesels 12v power plug supply.
Does the new switch plug into a wiring harness at the helm area or at the transom area? < If transom, did the switch come with an extension harness?
