VRO Alarm won't stop on '88 Johnson GT200

I have read most of the posts related to VRO alarms but haven't found an answer.
I have an '88 Johnson GT200 on my 20' Glasstron Bowrider. My alarm kept going off for the oil which I could stop by pumping the priming bulb on the VRO unit. However, I had my former mechanic just disconnect the VRO pump so I wouldn't have to worry about it and I just premix my gas now. The first time I took it out however, the alarm started buzzing about 60 seconds into the trip, the alarm that sounds about ever second or so. Since I knew the VRO was disconnected i just kept driving with it like that. Eventually, to my relief, the buzzer started to burn up and I started smelling a burning smell coming from the remote control (the buzzer I'm assuming). Well, I've taken the boat out a few times since then and now the buzzer is starting to get its voice back although it sounds like it is going through puberdy. The pump has been fully disconnected and is removed from the boat. The wires were disconnected about 12" from the tank but I don't see the wires they connected to so I'm assuming my mechanic disconnected the wires from the engine???. What can I do to make the oil buzzer stop buzzing? Is there some other sensor on the motor that I can disconnect? I don't know a lot about boat motors but I was hoping that I could avoid taking it back to the mechanic just to disconnect something simple.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff

There are two sets of wires that must be disconnected when pre-mixing.

The first is for the oil tank.

The second is a three or four wire set running from the fuel pump to an amphenol plug at the main harness. Look carefully at the fuel pump and you will find the wires, then follow them to the plug.

You will probably find that the fuel pump harness is still connected.

Awesome. Thanks. I'll try that tonight. So I should just find that 3 or 4 wire set and unplug the whole set right? I'm hoping it will be obvious which wires you mean. There isn't another set of wires going to the fuel pump that will screw anything up if I unplug them is there? I've been looking for a picture on the internet to confirm with you but I'm not having any luck.

Correct. The pump is 100% mechanical; the wiring is for the alarm system. Wires will be gray, tan and black if original, or gray, tan, black and purple if the pump has been upgraded.

Found it. I'll test it out this weekend. Thanks for your help. In case anyone needs this in the future. The picture below shows what I disconnected.

It's really funny to read that someone disconnects their "VRO" because they think it will ruin their motor without warning, yet they complain when the NO OIL alarm works exactly as it should if someone leaves it hooked up after sealing off the oil side of the pump.

I actually disconnected my VRO tank because the alarm kept going off when I was driving and it was just annoying to have to stop and pump the primer bulb to get the alarm to go off. Not so much because I thought it would ruin the motor.
