hi Everyone,
I have been having issues with my boat experiencing a fuel starvation issue. It can iddle fine all but it starves of fuel at higher rpms. I can start it back up after it dies but she only idles until the carbs fill with fuel. then i can WOT for 30 seconds or so until it starves again.
I originally thought i had an air leak in the fuel system but i have since replaced very single hose and clamp. I also removed the filters while it was doing this on the lake last time. still did it. I ran the fuel line directly from the vro to the fuel tank, no filters, or primer bulbs. Same thing. Carbs were rebuilt before this issue started,(boat was sitting for 5 years). Removed fuel pickup tube and the anti siphon valve works as it is supposed to. the fuel tank pick-up tube does not leak or suck in air.
So after all this i thought the vro might be the issue. I hooked up a cheap vacumme/fuel pressure gauge to it and used clear hose to check for air bubbles.
Here is the video of what i found.
Vacumme read between 2-3 Hg. From what i understand this is fairly normal.
The clear fuel line before the Vro is never full of fuel even though i have normal vacumme. Is this supposed to stay full of fuel or is something wrong with the VRO. it seems like the rate at which it sucks fuel out of the tank varies. Sometimes it varies alot other times it stays constant but the fuel input is never full.
You may want to turn the volume down.
Any ideas. keep in mind it is doing this at idle. I can only imagine how much fuel it will suck at WOT on the lake. It seems to me like at WOT the fuel in the line runs out and the pump cant draw enough fuel out of the tank to keep the carbs full. Or do i still have an air leak. I cant find any leaking fuel and i have looked at the entire fuel system 3 times.
Im lost on this one.
Thank you
