I have a 1997 40hp Evinrude the VRO has been disconnected for a while, I think the diaphram in the fuel side of pump might be leaking into my lower cyl causing my stumble at idle? Gonna replace the pump with a regular fuel pump from iboats but it does not give me a fuel pump for my year, do i just use the Sierra 18-7352 Fuel Pump it says its for: 25-55 HP 1976-89 ( non VRO )
and mine is a 97. Any help would be great!

did you do all the tests on the pump? especially the vacuum test on the vacuum motor diaphram. Until then I wouldn't change out the pump....

Re: VRO pump to Seirra fuel pump?

No havent tested the pump yet.....I enjoy throwing my hard earned cash into my money pit! Good suggestion Petryshyn I think I will, my buddy does have a gauge he bought that he tested on his fuel pump and turned out his pump was bad so i will borrow it. I wanted to replace all hoses with alcohol resistant ones, pump, and rebuild carbs as part of preventative maintanance soon anyway and hoping that would help my stumbling idle......so anyone know if that seirra pump is the one I need if it's bad or am I way off?

you of-course will have to mix your fuel if you down-grade the pump.

Oh ya I have been mixing 50/1 since I got the boat thats the reason I want to get a regular fuel pump and not the expensive VRO pump....anyone know if this is the correct pump before I order it? Searched through the forums couldent find any answers!
