Re: wal mart hose ends

OMC only has one connector. Did you get the right hose assy ?? Or you may have a bad connector on the motor.

most likely will fit with a little persuasion...a little pushin and wigglin. If not, go with OMC replacement fitting

As far as I know the oring that fits inside the female connector is still an available part. The male part that mounts to the motor, you better call 1st and take a pocket full of money with you. The one for a 1987 50hp is about $70.00 plus.

I agree, rebuild the existing original one with a new o-ring. the attwood units leak.

You can get by without that 0-ring and pin if you have to. The reason it's there is to keep the connector from dripping when you pull the fuel line off. The old models didn't have them.

how old are you talking. all the way back to 1954 that I have access to has the o-ring.

Re: wal mart hose ends

here I thought that the oring was to seal the male barb to the female connector so that they wouldn't leak.

The o-ring is in the female connector, not in the male on the older ones. The anti-drip ones with the pin on the end of them came out in the 80's. Meaning the male ones that are on the motor.

boobie whom or where did I ever say the oring was on the male barb?

The new ones drip as bad or worse than the old ones in my opinion.

Bonz, you're right. I must have read it wrong. And yes, the new ones drip as bad. Must be that o-ring in them.

I believe it more a case of poor craftsmanship in the molding process. Seams todays tolerances are more like + - 1/4" or yeah that's close enough.

I work maintenance and I find new parts that wont fit together all the time. It's really sad.

Yeah,
there is OEM
and then there is
CEM ( China Equipment Manufacturer)
sized connectors
( I lol'd myself )
no, but seriously,
as long as the O-Ring is in great shape
I have not had a problem with any brand
of connector leaking.
( though I totally agree on having
Made in the USA is best )

Instead of having to drive 20+ miles to the nearest
BRP parts center and pay more than a buck and a
half each or ordering online for a buck and some
plus s/h, I go 1/2 mile to my local Home Depot and
get a pack of 10 for 2 bucks and some change.
Danco #78 - 7/16" OD x 1/4" ID x 3/32

good luck, let us know what ends up working out for you
