Give or take, anything over 28 is probaby a wider beam which requires a special permit to trailer down the road. Not to mention the vehicle to tow it. If you don't have these two items, many people will moor their boat at a marina. Up here it runs around 10-15 a foot depending on whether its covered or not. Lets just say you get a 26 foot boat, its gonna cost you at least 260 a month to sit it in a slip so you don't have to tow. I kind of agree with a few on here, I know Im a newbie to this forum but have been boating for quite some time and my first boat was a 16 foot quachita and have grown since then. Good Luck but stick to some lakes until you get your sealegs.

Not to be another nay sayer, but I would run also. TexMojo has a good point. what kind of truck do you have to tow this? 10k is pretty big, and you would need at least a 3/4 ton truck.

In the bay area slip rental goes from about $34-50 (and way more!!) a foot per month. the 34$ being a place you wouldn't want to go near at night. I would be willing to bet that San Diego is quite a bit more. I would be also very careful with a cheaper boat on open big water, its not a lake that your family can easily swim back to shore if you have an epic fail moment.

Yes, it can be done. No, it wont be cheap. if you love the boat and are willing to dump lots of money into it, go for it. The problem with that is you spend 15k on a boat that is worth 6K when you are all said and done.

Good luck!

Sad, but that seller's attitude and lack of grasp on the real world is very typical...

Ironically, while the condition of the hull and interior boat seems bad, it would be the least of my worries. That stuff can assuradly be cleaned up and fixed with some elbow grease and very little investment.

That is all too often the case with new boat buyers. Looks are the first concern.
