1992 Johnson 90 hp VRO
model#J90TLEND
ser#3068738
teleflex tach
it has TRACKER and PRO SERIES decals on the motor cover.

I just had it rebuilt, with new pistons/rings, rebore, carb rebuilt, etc..it came complete with the Bombardier throttle quadrant that has the key in the end with an emergency clip and a fast idle bar and the trim is in the throttle handle...anyway...

I have read that the warning horn SHOULD chirp once when the key is cycled to let me know its working, it doesn't. I called the shop and asked if there was a problem and they said NO THAT THIS ENGINE/YEAR DID NOT HAVE THAT FEATURE. the round puck horn is tucked behind the throttle quadrant and wired and they tell me its been tested for overheat and VRO problem.

Should I worry or is there a problem that needs to be addressed?

Thanks

If it does not have that feature, your control probably does have a slot that is above the key and hidden under the warm up lever. If you turn the key to run and insert another key into that slot, the horn should sound and let you know that the horn is functional.

You can always disconnect the tan wire at the cylinder head and ground it to the block to test the horn.
