How can you tell if the warning horn is still attached and working?? This is my first outboard. With my I/O you just turned the key and waited about5 seconds and the buzzer would sound; letting you know that the system was still working. When I do the same thing with the outboard I get no sound????

Thanks.

Re: Warning horn

Will...as ejw posted, you should get a tone when ever you turn the ignition key to on. If the key is on a dash board, the alarm horn will be under the dash and could be hard to hear. A quick way to see if it works, look for a brownish colored wire coming from one of the heads. This will be the heat sensor wire. There will be a rubber connector connecting the wire to the wire harnes. Pull the connector apart and ground the end that goes to the motor harnes to ground with a jumper wire. Go to the key switch and turn it to "ON". Don't try and start the motor, just to on. The horn should give a continuous tone. Hope this helps.

Re: Warning horn

Thanks guys, it's just as I suspected...the guy I bought the boat/motor from disconnected the warning horn. You know this motor seized about 10 hours after I bought it. Since this was my first outboard and the compression checked out I ran it like the mechanic said to. Then BANG!!   it blew up!!

The guy I bought the boat from knew there was a problem. Gotta hate people who are dishonest.

This guy is going to screw the wrong guy some day...then he'll get his.

I guess this was a learning experience.

Thanks again.
