Don't forget that you earn a 1000 points bonus if you make them crash together...

No. the correct move was for her to move toward the ski to the right, so she can pass it port to port. Then, signal you to go outside the wake to the starboard. Then, she cuts hard to port and crosses in front of all five to the one on the far left. All five should get clothes-lines by your ski rope as they pass between you and your boat. Victory at sea!

amd 10,000 points if you sink a battleship................ errrrr jetskier

as for the frustration over jetski's operated badly: where I do half my boating, in this busy commercial harbor, the ski's aren't much of an issue but the big vessels are. My friends who are harbor pilots find themselves constantly dealnig with the smaller pleasure/fishing boats and sailboats. So those of you driving the typical 20' boat dealing with the 4' jet ski, imagine my guys in the 200' boat dealing with the 20' jet skis and 40' sailboats!

Never knew every boater hated me when I'm on one of the jet skis.... Yikes, the opinions here are incredible!!

With that said, we're you skiing in a channel? I actually have had more issues with skiers taking up the whole channel zig zagging around, than the jet skiers who usually run fast in the skinny water I can't navigate.

Proper procedure would have been five blasts on the horn, then dead stop. So you could change your swimsuit.

Depends on what you are doing on it. If you are spinning circles in the wakes between boats and jumping directly in front of boats, or royally screwing up glass water that people are trying to ski then yes - we hate you :)

Your lucky there wasn't an accident. Canadian boating law, you lave to have a spotter facing the skier at all times to signal back and forth (third person). Don't know if that goes with American boating law also.

In AZ we are required to have a spotter of certain age facing the skier and flag ready when skier goes down.

You never mentioned a third person in the boat AZBoatDreamer? If you did I must have missed it. You would leave your self wide open for a law suit if there was an accident. Situations like this you have to cover your butt. Just a heads up for others.

I don't understand your post riptorn. I had 4 people in the boat. My wife, kids 16, 13 and 8. Was it needed mentioning?
How would have this changed the out come of my wife decision or who is at fault if there was a accident.

Them Salt and Verde River lakes can be scary with traffic at times. Were you on Canyon headed upstream?

Yep, last time I was there I saw a mix of 500+ HP Hot Rods, fishers in Alum boats, Skiers and Wakeboarders, Ski Doo's and wife and I in a borrowed 14' Alum. boat with an oversized outboard. We were all competing for the same narrow channel. It was not a safe place at all.

EDIT: That was in '87

For those that don't know canyon lake this was the Narrow area I was skiing.

Wife was in the middle to give me clearance from both sides of the cliff walls. Fine for wake boarders because their ropes are shorter. We meet the jet skies head on. I think they were space hogging by riding a line going across the narrow pass. Not so much of a problem if they were behind each other.

As narrow as 300' cliff to cliff according to google earth.

I have to comment, if five jet skis were heading right for me I would have to play with them by port to starboard back and forth a few times, lmoa. Funny how a larger vessel usually wins.:eek::D

On open water I would be pretty ticked off if I were in your wifes position but all in all its a difficult situation that was handled very well by both sides, everyone goes home safe can't be a bad thing right.
