Re: Water drops on spark plug

Well I am still baffled. I think the "screw boss" is what the throttle stop screw screws into. if I adjust the cam within an 8th of inch of it I cant get a spark unless timing is near 14-16. However if I adjust it like in the picture I can get timing right on 10. I have timing set and linkage and carbs move through the full range from throttle closed to wide open. I start he up and she runs ok and idles ok. I should still get a spark because the primary pickup can be adjusted back to same position as it is when I have current setup. Any thoughts? Doug

Re: Water drops on spark plug

Ok last post hopefully. After carefully studying posts and manual I went back and started from beginning. I was able to get throttle cam adjusted properly and timing set to proper specs. I had spark while I timed. I guess before I must not have had advance arm in proper position. Started her up and she sounds great. I didnt realize before after the other attempts she was running rough. Now she is smooth. Will be taking her out tomorrow fishing and give her a run around the lake.

My wife tells me I over analyze things. I think this might have been one of those times. I was making it more difficult than it really was. Oh well after all of the practice attempts I dont think this will be a procedure I will forget.

One last question though. You have mentioned a couple of times about having the advance module disconnected. I disconnected during timing procedure but have hooked it back up. What are the benefits of leaving it unhooked? Thanks Doug

Re: Water drops on spark plug

Took boat out today. She ran great. Hole shot was about 3-5 seconds. Not sure on top end or wot yet. The lake has a 20 mph limit. I did push her to 42 mph (about 3800 to 4000 rpm) once though. I hadn't even played with trimming her out or leaving the hotfoot down too long. Didn't want to get into trouble for speeding. It felt like she would do a lot more. Hopefully will be able to take her out to a lake without a speed limit in the next few weeks. I am curious to see how she does on top end.

I had noticed ever since I bought it last year that the water stream seemed to spurt and water pressure gauge jumped a little but now is a steady stream and pressure gauge us steady. Dealership I bought it from told me that this was normal. I know now it is not. I wonder now if it was starting to develop a problem then. Thanks for all of your help. Doug
