Have an Albin 021 which I love.

Have just got the boat so not too familiar with it. Long story short, ran great when it was sunny, as soon as the rains came it became damn near impossible to start.

I pulled the plugs and sure enough water has gotten into the tank. I will have to take the tank out for a proper service and clean in the winter so have bypassed it with an outboard tank. Have drained all the fuel out of the lines/carb, replaced and added a little additive to absorb water. Can almost get it to start but it's still stubborn as hell.

My question is could water be sitting at the bottom of the cylinders? Because when I pull the plugs now, while it's not as bad they are still a little wet and have water on them. If water is in there how can I get it out? Is there an additional product I can pour into the block to ensure all moisture is pushed out?

Thanks in advance!

trippy old engine. i was going to suggest taking the plugs out and spinning the starter but i've never seen an engine like that before.

Swedish built and designed they were bought up by Volvo in the 1970s. Superb pieces of kit. I will remove the plugs and hand crank.

Ayuh,.... If you have water in the cylinders, it Ain't comin' from the fuel tank,....

It's probably comin' from a bad head gasket, or cracked head.....

I would do a leak down first.

Maybe start it dry if you can disconnect the sea water pump and run about 20 seconds to dry it out.

Got it started, but one of the cylinders is not doing as it should and subsequently getting splattered with water. Did a comp check on the both cylinders, one came in just under factory default, the other barely registered :(. I guess I am looking at something pretty serious, I hope for a head gasket, I fear a crack in the block. I will start a separate thread re-gasket change. Thanks for all your replies. @Wolifie, grab the manuals off http://www.albinmotor.com/ thanks for the offer!
