Hi all.
Don't know much about the directional flow of water in an inboard/stern drive system so...
Based on the hoses available and inlets and output ports on my engine and manifolds...
does water come in the two water hoses at the top of the stern drive (through the stern drive moulding somewhere?), into the exhaust manifold (wet cooled type), out of the manifold, into a splitter / combiner part on top of the engine, into the water pump and out through the transom?
Or the other way... (i suspect this way due to location of pump in sequence).
In the transom to the water pump, through the engine water jacket and splitter unit (whatever that item is..) through the two hoses into the manifolds, out the manifolds via the two oses into the top of the stern drive?
Until i can fire the engine up i am unable to test the direction etc.
Managed to remove the manifolds yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see that the are steel, not cast iron so can weld them. Only one needs repair. Badly however. Should be a doddle.
Managed to turn the engine over by hand and on the starter motor (not iginition), just to see if seized and turned well. (after 8 years!)
Rewired the electrics and replaced a few relays to the stern drive and managed to get it to tilt up and down on a new switch.
Managed to enable magnets in stern drive to control forward and reverse gears. (12 volts accross relative magnet/gear)
As soon as i can work out nthe water direction i can continue restoring that system.
Engine is inboard V4 OMC stringer stern drive.
Many thanks all
matt
