Water Jacket problems

I have a 76 inline 1150 that has good compression on all cyls. I'm replacing the exhaust baffle and cover gaskets and also the cover on the front where the plugs are. I have the front cover off which is recessed in the block. On the bottom cyl. there is a jacket in the left corner that feeds the water into the cover [I think ]. Anyway there is a small hole that has eaten through the jacket but still leads into the water circulation. no water going into the exhaust at all. Will this create a problem with the water pump with pressure. Can this be fixed or patched with something. I tried to find a diagram showing the route of the water flow but could'nt. Has anyone else had this problem. thanks :(

Re: Water Jacket problems

The water comes into the big area at the bottom of the block and then is immediatly routed to the exhaust plates first filling them from the bottom up. Once those are filled the water spills over into the block filling it from the top.

You can use "lab-metal" to effect a small repair.

-W

Also when replacing that cover - use a little black silicone gasket goop on the surfaces and around the spark plug holes.

-W
