Water Leak Help!!

I have a slow water leak seems to be coming in a small hole just above
the drive shaft coming into the boat.its a mercruiser with a Alpha 1 drive
my mechanic said water can't come in the boat through the drive shaft
bellows??but it seems that the small hole is in the same area as the bellows
I will add about a week ago I drop my boat off the trailer at a boat launch
onto the grass not a big bang but a good thump took the boat on the
water after it happened everything seemed ok untill the next time out
then discovered a small leak.
Any thoughts???

Find another mechanic.Water can enter from a hole .

Your mechanic,,, isnt.

Of course water can come in the bellows, if it has a hole in it. There are a few seals and other items in the gimble housing that can leak, plus all the bellows.
If it not a bad leak, id use it for the rest of the season and then do the bellows and seals over the winter. Just dont leave like this or you will do damage that will surface later. Make sure you get it as dry as possible after every trip until its fixed.

Does it leak when its just sitting in the water not running, or only when running, or both?

No my mechanic said even if the bellows has a hole no water can enter
the boat through this area!!!
