if no water is coming out the back, it isn't working.
If powerhead is too hot to touch, it isn't working.
You should warm the motor up, then be able to put your hand on it for 3-4 seconds.
Is a stupid question but I was checking because I have a mercury and it spits the water very good versus this one I can see the hole where the water comes out. Are there any tips or infor that you know in how to replace the water pump.
My 20HP Chrysler just trickles water out of the small hole, but most of it comes out near the bottom of the exhaust housing which is further down. If yours is like mine, the anatomy of this area will become apparent when you take it apart to service the water pump.
There's a sticky at the very top of this forum that gives a good general description of what you're trying to do...

While you're at it... Drain the lower unit. If it's milky, it means there's water in it. You can address that problem while you have the lower unit off.
You'll need to drop the lower unit to service the water pump. If the link I provided does not give enough detail, you should purchase a manual for your engine. The procedure will be layed out in good detail and there will be pictures.

It's not the same engine as yours, but the process is similar on all outboards. This will give you a better general idea. Do some more searches on youtube for replace impeller. There are several videos on there. Again, this is just to get a general idea about the process.
*The impeller is part of the water pump. Replacing the impeller in your water pump is a routine maintenance item. You would only need to replace other parts of the water pump if there was a problem with them. Most often, the impeller is the only thing that needs replacing. You should do this once a season.
