I just bought a glasstream ski boat with a 120 hp inbourd mercruiser motor. I hooked it up to water outside and ran it for a little bit but noticed that no water was coming from the hole. Is there something that I can check to see what is wrong? I am new to this so any help would be appreciated

I hooked it up with the muffs that go over the intake. How do you get to the impeller? Is it very difficult?

First I would suggest buying a repair manual. Most of your questions will then be answered.

Some setups have an outdrive and a seperate raw water intake so the impeller is in the intake. What type of outdrive is it??? The impeller is pretty easy to replace in the outdrive and if it is burnt it wont suck up any water and you wont see any coming out the exhaust.Charlie

I can not get the lower foot to seperate to get to the intake. There was a total of 7 bolts that I took loose and can get it to come down some but it will not seperate. What am I doing wrong?

You need to get the trim tab off. There is a cap on the casing of the drive above it and you will need 2 allen wrenches

Jeff there is a hole with one allen screw in it above the trim tab. Once it is off should you have alot of trouble getting the bottom foot off. Because I have a long screwdrive in it and can get it to come down about a half inch but I am scared of putting too much force on it.

When you take off the trim tab you should see another one. Double click the link that I posted earlier that Don gave me and it will show you step by step. It is the service manual. Look at 3C

Look at 3c. The allen nut you are missing is in the trim tab housing

Nevermind Jeff I found it. Once I get the trim tab off i should see the other. I just noticed that is what the trim tab was. Minde is broken off and has no fin on it. Do I need another and if so can you purchase it at a dealer?

Yes, yes and yes. A lot of them get worn down from corrosion. When you get it off you will see the other allen nut and then you can carefully seperate the drive

Jeff I really really appreciate your patience with me and the help. One more question do I need to put it in forward gear or are there any more precautions when i start to seperate the drive?

It should be in forward gear when you took it off. I laid mine down flat on the bench and seperated it carefully. Did you find the other nut?

Thanks Jeff! I got it off but the rubber impellar look in excellent condition. So now I really dont know what to look for as to why it is not pumping water out of the peehole. What other things are there to look for and how do I know if the water pump is bad?
