I used to use something called Bike Aid. It was black like graphite and would penetrate anything. Used it on throttle cables, etc...even penetrated through the metal sheath on the cables. Haven't seen it in a long time though.

the only thing I use WD 40 for anymore is(and yes I know it sounds stupid but it works) after a road trip spray the splattered bugs on your car with it, let it sit then wash and they come off without all the scrubbing! But use a good grease cutting soap so you dont leave the paint all greasy!

Wow, at $18 plus shipping for a 16oz can, it better do all those things it advertises! Anybody ever directly compare this with Inox (also highly recommended in this thread) and how much does Inox cost?

Inox is around $14. They have added a caution to their website:

CAUTION: INOX MAY AFFECT SOME NATURAL RUBBER PRODUCTS WITH CONTINUAL LONG TERM USE

Wonder if that applies to the other products here?

yes gibbs is expensive but you get better deals buying more then one can! I got a 2 can deal for i think $20 or $25 been a couple of years ago dont really remember the details! But Ive only used 1/2 of a can with a decent amount of use! It just works so good you dont use as much!

Probably go through 2 large cans of WD-40 per year. Makes a great salmon fishing lure scent, and helps take the sticky stuff under price tags.

Never thought to use it for anything else...
