There is a similar situation on lake Havasu, but instead of selling ice cream they sell pasties. I personally like the ones with the little propellers.:D:D

I'm recently re-located to North Carolina.
I was fishing in the sound and noticed something floating, but moving faster than just drifting.
Thinking it was a log, I got close enough to see it was a 5' alligator!

Another location, I noticed fish feeding near the surface, not a frenzy, but lots of swirling water.
I cast every lure I could put on...nothing! Not a bite.

I got closer to see what I was 'missing' and noticed a school of gar fish chomping down on some on bait fish.

Both areas are salt water, about 4 miles from the ocean...never thought I'd see fresh water predators there, but locals say at certain times of the year it's common.

OK last summer, me, wife three teenage daughters one teenage son on my boat, my buddy his wife two teenage daughters and two daughters 4 and 6 on his boat. Were tied up in the trees at Pueblo Res. in southern Colorado just enjoying an adult beverage and napping while the kids sun bathe and swim, I am all cozy with my wife on the bow sun bathing area and my situation can best be described as thoroughly investigating the backs of my eye lids. I hear the kids say that theres a rope in the water between the boats, mind you I am 99.9% GONE so things being heard are somewhat hazy.....

I can assure you that 8 women screaming can not only break glass it can involuntarily cause at least two Corona's to leap out of the semi comatose male holders hands.

I came too just in time to witness my buddies wife give a Jerome Bettis stiff arm to HER daughter while in emergency boat evacuation mode to Lipps boat.

Saw a couple kids last year that lashed a lawn chair to a sheet of ply wood and they were skiing, it was pretty amusing.

Bikini Clad Fire Jumpers!

After leaving a floating resturant/ bar around midnight my wife, me, and another couple anchored off a popular sand bar. Full moon, tasty beverages and good tunes. My buddy Mark & I are swimming / wading just off the swim platform on a perfect night. And on the beach there are people camped out with a huge bonfire. And very attractive young ladies dancing around and jumping over the fire.
Mark & I toast each other saying " It don't get no better than this!":D

Unfortunately I didn't have a camera, but a buddy and I went out while the river was flooded in 2006 and we saw a slide-in truck camper. Complete with wooden spoons floating out of it!

The main shipping channel for NWS Earl (Naval Weapons Station) in Leonardo NJ runs from Ambrose light outside of lower NY harbor, past the tip of Sandy Hook NJ (literally within about 20 yards of the beach) and on to NWS Earl. This nice sunny summer afternoon we watched as a naval destroyer was coming into Earl, we can only guess that the commander absolutely did not believe that he was supposed to run his 400 foot destroyer within that 20 yards of the beach, and he decided to ?play it safe? and run outside the buoys farther away from the beach. Well, we watched as he proceeded to put that 400? destroyer up into about six feet of water in a mud bank. We had a good couple of hours of entertainment as we watched them raise the signal flags for ?full astern? time and time again, and each time churn the water into a muddy froth. They even got two NY harbor tugs to come down and help try to pull her out of the mud. She was still sitting there when we left. We bet someone had some ?splainin? to do.

Or there was this.

Or the time I was working commercial fishing, offshore scalloping about 75 miles off of Atlantic City, and we pulled up a pair of cement overshoes. Now that was weird!

A complete wooden double pedestal Desk floating in the middle of Long Island Sound.

A mile wide 'slick' of garbage (mostly deflated mylar balloons and various plastic bottles (detergent and what-not) also floating in the LI Sound. (I think there may have been a trashalanche from a NYC garbage barge.)

A deer swimming between land and an island about 1 mile from shore around 6 am on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH.

Once, the monongahela river was way above flood stage I saw a large piece of wood float by (possibly a door) with a VERY large rabbit on it. The rabbit was just chillin'. Although I wasn't on a boat at the time, does this still count?

How about an Ohio class, nuclear-powered, ballistic submarine surfacing about 1000 yards off your port?

I had no idea those boats where that big.

Does getting buzzed by the Blue Angels on Commissioning Day Count?

I'd imagine that would be a bit of a surprise...you didn't see it on the sonar did ya?

Re: Weirdest thing you ever seen on the water?? :p

One Sunday morning, before church, I was running the water out of a boat, and saw a 19' boat with 2 guys and one girl, all on top of each other on the pedestal seat on the passenger side. Yes, I believe they were.... And this is in the city, in a cove surrounded by nice waterfront homes, 8:00 Sunday morning. Too bad I had the plug out and couldn't slow down for a closer look, or to warn them that all the neighbors had binoculars!

I've also seen deer swimming and other natural phenomenon, a waterspout, and lots of cool Navy stuff, like subs and hovercraft. Saw the ship that was carrying 4 giant container cranes from China; why it didn't tip over is beyond me, and the super tanker oil skimmer.

Saw what I thought was a body washing in the surf but it was a survival suit stuffed like a dummy for a Navy SAR drill--someone didn't pass! Scared me though until I rolled it over.

That would be wild! I guess it's better than a Russian Typhoon sub poping up next to you!
