Torque is all about displacement. A small displacement OB can make equal HP but not torque. Torgue is the key to strong acceleration.

HP is the only key to acceleration. Torque is meaningless without RPM, and torque with RPM equals HP.

Here's a perfect example: Using a two foot breaker bar, I can easily apply 300 ft-lbs of torque to a harmonic balancer bolt on an engine that only produces 200 ft-lbs of torque. Does that make me more powerful?

As you add rpm to the 200ft pounds that is when hp starts to develope. Without the torque to start the rotation hp cant develope. Take a semi truck with gobs of torque and relatively low HP compared to a Ferrari with high HP and lower torque. Ferrari blows the semi away in a race but strap 40000# to the Ferrari and it wont be able to pull out of its tracks. Same with a OB, same HP and may be faster but add lots of weight and the engine with more torque out performs it.
