Id stick to head removal on that side. I was hesitant on mine but was told time and again that water deflector would be the problem. I bit the bullet and pulled the head and sure enough the deflector was flat. A new one is round. Just get gaskets and deflector before you start (do not put back together w/o removing all old gasket material and installing new ones) and im sure you'll find it easier than you think

Just wanted to check back and thank everyone. When i took apart the t-stat housing it had zipties holding the lines so thats what i put back. I noticed no water was really coming out the exhaust and it was bascially dumping from the top-end. It was coming from where the lines went into the head. I got some hose clamps and put them on all four connections and started it up. Everything cooled equally and appears to be functioning now.

Taken it out a couple times and runs like a champ on top of the water. It has a slight miss at idle and doesnt idle high enough. I need to check the coils again i had the weak battery hooked up and it was going dead and couldnt tell if it was the coil or battery was weak as to why the last coil wasnt sparking.

Again this forum is great appreciate all the help and hopefully someone finds my post and uses it as a reference
