I tow my 1985 Bayliner bowrider w/ Force 85HP O/B with, in my opinion, the most indestructible off-road vehicle I've ever owned. The FJ Cruiser. Here's a pic. or two:

main concern with that combo is remembering the boat's back there :)

Yea, it will pull most anything I hook up to and not really have an issue. Don't even feel the SeaNymph back there that is for sure.:)

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

Snapped a couple of pictures this weekend towing the 27'er to the new owners home. The boat was previously stripped of a fair amount of items (mainly cabin stuff, mechanical items were mostly still in tact), but the new owner is a salvager and we proceeded to fill the boat with a few thousand lbs of debris. Car doors, K members, suspension parts, refrigerators, you name it, the cabin of the boat was filled with it. If I had to guess, probably around 10K lbs all loaded ready to roll on the trailer. Had to tow it through the hills too. Gas mileaged dropped a bit, into the 9 mpg range, but it wasn't terrible.

Also, what do I win for having the most "redneck" looking rig set up. A stripped boat, a bed full of stuff in the truck, and mud on the fenders/tires from the local fairgrounds.

I've got a 17 foot Galaxy Bowrider with a Mercruiser 140HP stern drive that I pull with a 2007 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab. It's got 2wd, 3 liter V6 engine and an automatic transmission with transmission cooler.

It seems to do OK. I did add a Scangauge so I could monitor the transmission fluid temp and the highest I've seen is 170 degrees (F) at 60 MPH pulling the boat. Even without the boat it will warm up to about 165 at that speed.

I keep the overdrive locked out when pulling anything.

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

Hi Guys:
I have a 1976 Grew/Slickcraft SS215 on a galvanized tandem axle Road Runner trailer which I pull with a 1996 2 door, 2 wheel drive Chevy Tahoe with the 350 V8 engine. Boat and trailer loaded with gas is around 4,500 lbs at the truck scales. I'm a big fan of this truck and this is the third one I've had, the 2 wheel drive versions are not easy to find and when I get a new one I immediately install a posi-trac rear end and I never have any problems.

I've got a '74 19' Fiberform Santa Catalina that I tow with My '97 Nissan Pathfinder. I think I'm bout due for a bigger rig though, as this boat is almost pushing the limits of the 'ol Pathfinder.
