92 Suburban for my Bluewater- What a gas hog/ sold them both.
03 Ford Exploder 4x4- yes 2 trannys in 86000 miles pulling my Bayliner 20?. Pulled great on flat ground, gutless on hills. Dumped it at my first op. This was my third Exploder and I should have learned on my 96 when I blew the tranny at 103000. I can say though my first one had 145000 on it when sold and I never worked on the tranny on that one.

Now I have a 05 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4, plenty of acceleration on hills with my boat and tows it like a dream. NO TRANNY ISSUES YET!!!!

1994 ford f-150 2 wheel drive pulls my 77 17 foot mfg tri hull and her 125 horse evilrude outboard, pulls pretty well considering the truck has 174 grand on it. never was a ford fan really until this old truck, where we live we have serious windy hills to deal with and once going up a hill the rear wheels spun out as if i hit ice while pulling the boat, needless to say it scared the hell out of me lol couldn't figure out why all of a sudden everything is smooth and going well and then next second the read end of the truck and the front of the boat are in the other lane lol! then i started to smell something hot... looked at the temp gauge and it was moving up faster than that old fords gas gauge goes down! couldn't stop for 3 miles nothing but bank on one side and guard rails on the other. got to the top of the hill and pulled over just as she stopped knocking and stalled... i thought yep just blew the motor. well what we had spun out on was our own coolant the lower hose popped, believe it or not we got the hose cut back and put back on secure and got it cooled down put water in it (out of the hull ROFLOL thank god i forgot to leave it out and we had rain the night before) and she fired right back up as if to say "its alright dude no harm no foul... thanks for drink of nasty bilge water" got her on to the lake that day and then home gave the truck the spa treatment lol coolant flush, oil change with k and n filter (cause it had gotten so hot the oil on the stick was actually smoking!) and refilled the power steering pump (it got so hot it blew the cap off lol) and i have put 4 thousand miles on it just towing the boat since! all hail the cast iron 302!

Yep, nothing as good for the long haul as a real cast iron block & heads. I'm sure that none of these current "high-tech" aluminum blocks will hold up as well. I'm bummed that my GM Duramax turbodiesel has aluminum heads, but it does great towing our 16,000 lb fifth-wheel trailer, something no Tundra or Titan can remotely accomplish...

Pull my 1984 4 Winns 170 with my 1975 K5, Pull my 1985 Sea Ray Cuddy with my 1980 K5, No picks yet of my 80 (Red & White too) but here is a picture of my BABY 75 K5. Pulling the boat with the top off gets me pre wind/sunburned. lol

I tow a 19' Trophy center console with a 2002 Audi Allroad... I get some funny looks at the launch ramp, but its all wheel drive and has plenty of power. Only has a 2.8 liter twin turbo, but it pulls around 300-310 hp and 280-290 ft lbs of tourque. Toungue scale said about 190. Not sure how much the boat weighs, but its definitely not light. I would guess around 3,000 lbs. Maybe a little more with a full tank of gas.

I belong to the funny look club to. I pull a 19 ft cobalt w/ a 2001 ford crown vic lx. v-8 pulls it no problem, and the automatic air ride is the greatest thing ever for pulling trailers, no matter what my car is always level, good steering and stopping seeing that the front end isnt lite. stops good to w/4 wheel disc brakes, and pulls boat up the ramps great with the traction control.

Tundra's and Titans are both 1/2 tons. Your Duramax would be a 3/4 or a 1 ton.... right? Apples to Oranges..... right?

i pull my boat with a 1990 chevy s10, its 2wd,rusted out has a red cab with a green door and a blue box. it has a 4.3 L v6 so works pretty well, ugly as you can get tho.

best midsize truck ever built i believe.
i and both sons had s10's and i picked one up for granson "setting in our garage", he's 14 now.
parts are cheap, easy to work on and just won't give up.
what was g.m. thinking??????????

i love my s10 runs great even with a ton of miles, easy to work on and i live in saskatoon saskatchewan and even in the -45c it starts without being plugged in.

I tow my 2600pound 17ft aluminum boat (hull weight is 1160pounds + 240pound motor + 150lbs fuel + 300lbs accessories and 750lbs trailer) and with an old heavy and underpowered 4cyl toyota previa :-D

I got my boat home with my '04 Monte Carlo. While I was rather amazed how well it did, it was NOT the correct vehicle.


I've bought a '91 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Before ya laugh, he Jeep only had 44,850 original miles. Plus, since it's green, it should be enviromentaly freindly.


Total for boat and Jeep was $4,500.
