what does this part do(have pics)

1993 200 evin. ocean pro. the cover (lower exhaust mount cover) on the side of the leg just above antivent plate is breaking from inside out. when removing these covers i noticed the rubber mounts and metal is shot and falling apart. (lower rubber exhaust mount assembly?) what is the purpose of this? motor runs fine. it almost looks like a rod was slamming into the inside of the cover. sorry about terminology. many boats and never delt with this

Whats the model# of your engine? It kinda looks like a lower mount.

Looks like the lower mtr mounts to me. From the way they look both sides should be replaced. If they get really bad and swell up you could develope some shifting probs.

It could turn into a big deal if you don't replace them. From the pics they still look like the lower mtr mounts. These are what holds your mtr to the lower part of the swivel bracket. There's two more underneath the power head.

Lower mounts they are... you definitely should change them. On my E140TLCCM, they were blown out and all sandy and gritty. I had to cut them out. Looks like you wont need to do that to yours yet.

Check the price of those mounts!!! $150 each, 2 needed.
I happen to have a very very good set of used mounts, two lowers, one upper (one required), all three must go together.
