Thanks Fixin, means a lot to hear. When my daughter was born I spent many many nights "guarding" her crib and making promises to her. Probably like all parents do, but there were a few tears mixed in.
Very hard assignment, but well worth it in the end.

My favorite movie is The Big Lebowski. In the movie, Jeff Bridges plays Jeffrey Lebowski, but goes by the handle "The Dude." At one point in the movie, he tells some one to call him The Dude, or "El Duderino if your not into the whole brevity thing."

I started out on iboats as The Dude...but thought variety is the spice of life, so I changed it.

There you have it!

Re: What does your username stand for?

oddjob
is not a nickname given to me but one I gave to myself. To me, oddjob reflects the spirit "can do". It also reflects the different career paths I' have takin as well as the many hobbies and skills I believe I have mastered then forgot about or tired of.
oddjob was my favorite villian in the 007 movies because of his unlikely and weird appearance. I overlook the fact that he got his but kicked. Was a fluke.
I studied martial arts as a child in an enviroment of adults along with my step-father who was responsible for converting me from a frail sissy into the sometimes over confident person that I am today.
It's what I called my first johnboat cause it never ever let me down, even when I bit off more than it was rated for. The engine was an old (heavy, large, pull-start,25hp)evinrude that pushed oddjob 35-40mph overloaded or empty. Wish I never sold it. It spoiled me and prevented me from learning anything about the marine engine except how to maintain properly

I have avoided this thread and deleted many posts, many times due to the fact that I feel that I'm bragging or possess an over confident opinion of myself which I'm sure is true in many cases compared to alot of you on this forum. Sorry, but I'm a legend in my own mind. :D Please forgive me. :)

Well, here goes nothin!....Add Reply....."Enter"

tomatolord - my tomato plants are over 14feet tall.

I was renting a house about 10 years ago and the neighbors, who were in there 80's had a large overgrown garden and my house was in complete shade. I asked the neighbor to borrow their garden and they said sure and that they would like to use 1/4 of it for their own use.

So I tilled it up and planted my plants and they planted theirs.

My tomatoes were like a forest and theirs were like 3 feet tall.

So they called me tomato lord - lord of the tomatos!!

Let me know if you want the secret I would be glad to share!!

Tomatlord

Figured out after my second marriage that we change cages (wife) but you can't get out of the zoo.

That also applies to jobs, cars, even boats and just about every facet of life; be careful and make your decisions for the right reason! My little saying came from offering advise to my kids (6 grown w/kids of their own) about their decision making -- have a few more -- kids call them dad-ism's

The good looking one is Carolyn, my wonderful and supportive wife, who DOES NOT NAG!

This seems to be frendly enough of a site. So I felt there was no need to hide behind a fictious name.
I have alot of fun here, and laugh alot too.
I checked out a site caled steelheaders.com. sad bunch. they realy rag on those who are ignorant of their sport.
Here you can get some good advise.

I use to know everything, then I turned 17.

Thanks to you all!

I'd like to make the next BBQ
