Re: What fuel connector?

My guess is it is somewhere on this page. http://www.eastcoastmarineservice.com/fuelsys.html#30635T3 I would say part number 22831T3. If that isn't right play around on that site, you should find what you need on there. I just bought my fuel connectors at northern tool for about 4 dollars on clearance. That was for the nice metal ones not the plastic. You could try there if you have one close by.

That vintage merc kicker doesn't use the the fuel connection referenced above. It takes one that looks the same but is smaller than the ones used just a year or two later. It might be best to just go to a local dealer... but expect to spend a LOT - it's very expensive on the oldmercs website too! It will be a good metal one though.

Looking at the page linked, the difference is:

22831T3 Larger 1/4 turn fuel connector that plugs into all models 1955 thru 1987 (except 1961 6 HP and 1962-71 3.9 to 9.8 HP models. $21.10

30635T3 Small 1/4 turn fuel connector that plugs into 1961 6HP and 1962 thru 1971 3.9 to 9.8 HP models. $48.80

When I had a kicker that took that smaller sized fitting, I could not find a cheap/discount source nor an aftermarket one - as opposed to how common cheap metal and plastic after market ones are for the larger/current size. You'll notice the cheap $7.99 aftermarket fitting on that page is the "large" size.

By the way, I heartily recommend that site - they're great folks. But in this case, you'll probably find the same item at the same price locally. Make sure they give you the right (small) one though.

You also might try to check out bone yards or junked old merc fuel tanks. There's a good chance that fitting will be there somewhere and the value of it won't be known.
