That vintage merc kicker doesn't use the the fuel connection referenced above. It takes one that looks the same but is smaller than the ones used just a year or two later. It might be best to just go to a local dealer... but expect to spend a LOT - it's very expensive on the oldmercs website too! It will be a good metal one though.
Looking at the page linked, the difference is:

When I had a kicker that took that smaller sized fitting, I could not find a cheap/discount source nor an aftermarket one - as opposed to how common cheap metal and plastic after market ones are for the larger/current size. You'll notice the cheap $7.99 aftermarket fitting on that page is the "large" size.
By the way, I heartily recommend that site - they're great folks. But in this case, you'll probably find the same item at the same price locally. Make sure they give you the right (small) one though.
You also might try to check out bone yards or junked old merc fuel tanks. There's a good chance that fitting will be there somewhere and the value of it won't be known.
