If they were mine, I'd clean 'em up.
My checking account isn't bottomless

You might also wanna try flushing out the block while you're at it.
Pull out the petcocks and see what's behind them, particularly towards the rear of the motor.

Well, that was my hope, I certainly dont want to spend $500-700 on parts if I dont have to, on the other hand, an engine is more!

Trying to honestly figure out if these are okay for another year is a difficult question. Everyone is so eager to spend someone elses money!

Its funny you said to check the motor, when I winterized it there was no crud at all in the passages when I pulled the drain plugs!

Thank you for your input guys.

As i'm sure you've read, Those parts are only good for 10 years give or take.

I based my comment to replace only on the picture or the manifold, top pic.
The gasket surface looks clean but very rough and irregular. The water passages look rusty and corroded.

You could certainly put in new gaskets and give it try. Watch your temp and look for water in the oil. If you do get saltwater in your oil your motor will never be same. You want to put over a hundred hours on that boat this season with questionable parts?

Your boat, your choice.

I understand what your saying. Its tough to give an assessment with a photo online, I appreciate your opinion and will look these over again. It just seems theres no in between on manifold/riser costs between GLM and the rest.

Bondo- are you still running GLM manifolds in your boat?

Got a problem, trying to find manifolds/risers and most risers do not allow the anti-siphon device to be installed, is this going to be an issue?

Try the muriatic acid trick with a stiff rod to get the major part of the crud out before reinstalling them if that is what you're going to do. You'll get a feel for how much the rest of what you can't see has been affected by corrosion.

Thanks guys.

Can someone explain the anti-siphon device to me? If I buy new manifolds that wont accept these, will it be an issue?

Anti-siphon not a big deal in my opinion. All it is is a check valve from exhaust side of riser to spark arrestor. If engine diesels and tries to suck in water, valve opens so air is ingested instead of water. Seems to be a volvo deal.
Id rather have osco without this feature than GLM with. Not just flat surface issue. Mine had cracks in the casting. Im on the fourth one, still leaks.

No- those are the ones. They say for mercruser, I have a volvo- I know they are the same block, so no issues, right?

And dude- I have been on ebay for hours everyday looking for something like that and came up with nada- your the man!

Ebasic power is telling me that these will not fit my volvo. Can anyone confirm that they will fit? Thanks.

Re: What happens when manifolds/risers fail?

They will fit your engine, the difference will be on the output side. The location of the riser dump in relation to the y-pipe varies from one manufacturer to the next. In some case you can get creative with the rubber parts and make it work, but usually you must stick with the original design.
