Re: What HP can a OMC400 outdrive take?
First of all, not sure who told you that you had a 400 series, but they sure didn't know. Bayliner didn't use stringer drives in 89, all they used was the Cobra style. Totally different drives and mounting methods. The Cobra drives were also very lightly built for the 3.0L engines. They used an outboard lower gear case with small gears. You would destroy it in a heart beat if you tried to put 200 hp against it, plus you can't get it regeard with the proper gear ratio because they aren't available with the small gear case.
Of course it was sarcasm, not that I have ever used it before. Thanks for the reply Don.. hoping it wasnt in sarcasm..
Everyone else already told you the truth. You just didn't want to listen.I dont want to just hear what I want to hear, I want to hear real answers like "yes I did it and it worked" or " I did this and fragged my outdrive" etc.
