Never thought of using 2 6v golf cart batteries. I know they carry me around 18 holes with no problems. Any other thoughts on this idea?

Six volt golf car batteries get you (and me) around the course because there are 4, 6, or 8 of them depending on whether you have a 24 36 or 48 volt system. Battery requirements depend on the size of the troller which you haven't mentioned. Why take up space with two batteries when one big one will work just fine. A group 27 deep cycle with a 180 minute reserve capacity @ 23 amp draw runs $76 bucks at my local farm store. Used them for years in all my boats. There are also group 29 and 31's to consider with even more capacity.

Interstate at about $120, but they'll last for seasons if taken care of.
