What is the best type Brake fluid for hydraulic Disc

Fo hydraulic DISC Surge brakes is it better to use DOT 5 Brake Fluid, DOT 4 or DOT 3?

Kodiak makes no recommendation as to fluid type but my Tiedown actuator specifies DOT3 and specifically warn against the use of DOT4 for unknown reasons

Dot 5 is silicone based and probably not compatible.

The best is what the manufacturer calls for.

Thanks for the replies. I have the Tie down disk but have a atwood actuator that came with the brakes from Champion Trailers.
I do not recall Tie Down saying Dot 3 but that is good infomation.
I just went out and checked the actuator and it also has stamped into the metal to use DOT 3.
