Glen F -

I have to ask (even though it is off topic - see my other thread RPM'S TOO LOW! in the prop forum) what kind of RPMs & speed do you get? What prop are you using? I have an 18' aluminum Starcraft with an Evinrude 70, & I'm trying to do more with less, so to speak. . .

Thanks,
Matt M

In addition to required stuff (PFDs, flares, etc.) I carry the following on a 28' Formula:

1. a good general purpose tool kit - wrenches, sockets, pliers, hammer, screwdrivers, etc. Stanley makes a great kit that folds open with fitted compartments for each tool. Also have plenty of SS surgical scissors and forceps. Large survival type knife.

2. All essential fluids (oil, trim, Power steering, WD40, grease, etc.) & general cleaner.

3. Large industrial first aid kit

4. Rags, gloves (both heavy leather and disposable), paper towels and 3M absorber pads (the kind made to soak up oil)

5. Plenty of extra rope including a tow rope

6. An extra anchor

7. Flash light and 2mcp handheld spot light

8. Wire, including jumper cables and jumper leads, and multimeter and little electrical repair kit

9. SS screw, nuts and bolt kit as well as extra belts and lengths of hose.

10. Waterproof chart book

11. A whistle and air horn in case of main horn failure

12. Cell phone

13. Misc fishing gear

14. Spare 2000gph bilge pump with large alligator clips to hook directly to battery and discharge hose long enough to reach overboard from almost anywhere on the boat - this saved me from almost sinking on the maiden voyage after the rebuild when junk fro the rebuild clogged the main pump and the gimbal hosing had a previously unknown hole.

15. A Winslow rescue life raft when I go way offshore
