I got my new secondhand engine back and they have replaced a piston that was seized and all the piston rings from the 4 pistons. plus the upper main bearing.
It is a '99 johnson 90Hp V4 looper

I had put quicksilver tcw3 oil in the tank and pre mixed to make sure that the vro works.
Now I got another bottle of oil from the store and they gave me synthetic quicksilver oil.

I have been reading around and am afraid to use this oil because the engine ran befor on cheap oil by the previous owner ( that is what caused the piston to freeze ). and changing to synthetic is also expensive out here 50$ for 1 gallon.

What would you all advise me to do and if I should go the synthetic way can I just add it to the normal tcw3 oil that is still in it ???

I don't want to spend another 2000$ on a rebuild.

Thank you in advance
Stef.
