What to do with left over pre-mixed gas?

Guys, this past weekend I was preparing the boat for storage for the winter and one of my tanks (they're removable) has probably 4 gallons of already pre-mixed (50:1) gas in it. What should I do with it? It won't be good by the time spring arrives, will it?

I can't just go dump it down the drain, so my question is, what should I do with it? Can I put it in my weed whacker or leaf blower, both of which take 50:1 premix?

Any ideas on what to do with it? Thanks guys

By golly why not add some Stabil or Sea Foam to it and use it next spring. Even untreated fuel is good for 3 or 4 months and six months is not out of the question. What you should have done is added fuel stabilizer to the fuel and then run the engine long enough to get that mix into the engine. As it stands now, you have an engine with unstabilized fuel sitting in it so I would be more worried about it than the fuel in the tank. In the spring you can top off the tank and go fishing. There is absolutely no need to dispose of perfectly good fuel.

The last time I ran the engine I unplugged the fuel line and let it keep running until all of the fuel was out of it. I'll grab some of the Stabil and add it to the tank so it'll be ready for spring.

Thanks for the advice.

The stabilizer should do the trick. I use to pump the premix out and wait until my car was just about to 'E' on the gas gauge, poor in the car then fill the rest with straight gas and burn it up.

That being said, you should run the stabilized fuel up into your motor. Lessens the need for carb rebuilds in the spring.

I had about 4-5 gallons of unknown age mixed fuel in the tank of the boat I recently bought. I added it to about 20 gallons of fresh fuel in my older Chevy truck. Ive just about run that tank out with no ill effects.

I save mine to throw on yellow jacket nests, fire ant hills and Kudzu vines, pretty good for that and cheaper than screwing up a carb or injector. Good Luck!

I used some pre mix E-10 carp that came with an inline6 I jus' recently bought, (that made me 25 HP Merc sputter as it had sucked up some H2O), fer fire starter, butt: it burned waaaaay tooooooo quick ta do a good job as fire starter fer the wet green wood I was tryin' ta burn up out on RR island. ;)

It is better ta use diesel n' an ol' tire, (don't tell Uncle Joe what I jus' said: please).

Uncle Joe: I was jk!!!!! wink wink

Me overpriced $.02 JR

That's what I would do too. Dump it in your car/truck and start out with fresh gas in the spring.... 4 gallons isn't worth carrying over until spring....

Put stabilizer in it and keep it till spring, however if you want it out of the way then dump it in one of your vehicles, snowblower, lawnmower or whatever. I never keep unmixed gas around just in case it finds it's way into the boat tank so my 4 stroke lawnmower has been running on 50 to 1 for many years now

Landfills will often take old gas without charge in their hazardous waste section.

Lawnmover or snowblower. Dilute a little will still smoke some but work good. May need to clean plugs too.

I can't believe we don't have a sticky for this. The question has been answered and debated ad nauseum for years.

Given the wide range of responses, stabilizing, use it in something else, to bringing it to a landfill. Maybe the best answer is, "whatever you want".......

I guess I'm confused. If you have a a weed whacker and leaf blower that use 50:1 then just us it in there. Other than that use one of the other suggestions. Use it in the other machines or stabil is my recommendation.

That little oil wont hurt anything. Heck, I have a car(beater) that's going thru 1qt every 1k miles. Runs like a champ. I just don't look out the rear window when I leave a stop lite/sign.....

Burn it in the vehicle, it will do no harm to the converter.
