Have no clue why. But throwing into reverse sounds possible. But then, the bigger questioins arises.... WHY intentionally try to sink your boat? Morons, maybe??

Why would you want to do that?

I would rather keep all of the water outside the boat, and preferably underneath it...

Re: What would cause these boats to do this?

I once had a friend who, every time we had a flood (lived on the coast), would drive his car to various places and take photos of the water 1/2 way up his doors. It goes without saying his car was always broken down for this or that from his little adventures. Never stopped him from bumming rides like a lost puppy, though.

I guess that solves the mystery as to why even newer boats need restoring..

Buyer: "I'm not buying this boat, everything is rotted to mush!"
Seller: "What are you talking about?! I've always covered it when not in use!"
Buyer: "What is this video on youtube where you are sinking it?"
Seller: "Oh, that's not harmful, it's called submarining.."
Buyer: "Here's your sign."

Must be. I think I could take better care of that Matercraft than that...

Note to self: never buy a red an white MC from a guy in Minnesota!

Its one thing to do that in a yamaha jet ski that masquerades as a boat, but such a nice MC, what a shame!

It is either more money than sense or it's daddy's boat.

Yes. Throwing it into reverse will do that. It works best on jet drives where you don't throttle down to shift. It's actually kinda fun. I've done it many times in one of those little seadoo jet boats. Blasting along at 40 mph and hit reverse. Actually will fill those things entirely with water and they continue to float. You can actually drive around afterward sitting chest deep in water like you're in a bath tub..

come try that around my salt water and see how long it lasts.

I don't know about jet drives but think what that does to the drive chain and gears. It would kill an outboard.

Yes, makes no sense whatsoever with the Mastercraft. Not sure why the engine didn't die or break the output flange or strut. Maybe it did, but it obviously went into reverse

Does absolutely no damage to a jet "tranny" as it doesn't have one. The engine is not going to like water above any lube points that's for sure. But the poor boat . . . Jeez

Re: What would cause these boats to do this?

Possibly the most retarded thing Ive seen in awhile. Idk why it doesnt tear the out drive completely off the boat??? Much less completely destroy the clutch and gears. How the heck do they get that much water out of the boat?

And on a sea doo, that will possibly tear the reverse gate right off the jet. I know it will tear it off of a jet ski if you put it into R going down the lake so idk why it wouldnt on a boat.
