Just ran a compression test on the Evinrude 3.3 HP 1947-51 outboard I inherited. Both cylinders read 80#psi. Is this a good range? Would like to know before I continue on.
Thanks,
Joe

that will run fine at that compression. Does it have a fuel valve that you use a screwdriver to open or does it have a knob. I am told 49 and older had the screw driver valve 50 and newer had a knob.

Thanks for the replies. Freddyray I'm not sure about the fuel valve. Haven't gotten that far yet. I am in the process of building two stands for the outbaords I plan to disect and hopefully get running. I ran out of screws for the stands and decided to tinker with one of the motors. I started with the easiest.
Take Care,
Joe

His motor is a 1948. The fuel shut off is (probably) a screw located at the rear of the motor accessed from underneth. 80 psi is fine.

The operator's manual should be in your email inbox.

Hi,
My 3.3 HP has about the same compression. I found a parts listing of the motor that someone posted on http://www.aomci.org/ in the ask a member section. Someone on this site may be able to help also. My primer is shot (parts n/a) and I am trying to retrofit a primer from another small engine. Interesting carburation.
