I think the weirdest one I ever ate was a toadfish....also known in my parts as an oyster cracker. Ugly SOBs but darn sweet taste, probably because they eat oysters and clams.....

I was wading and clamming years ago and stuck the handle of the clamrake into a tire on the bottom filled w muddy water to see what was stiiring it up and BAM something hit the handle. I pulled it up and a huge, maybe 5 lb. Toadfish's mouth was firmly attached to the wood. It was very ugly and mean looking and i couldn't imagine it would be good to eat. Toadfish must have the largest mouths for their body size of any fish. I once tried to eat some of a 42" Bigmouth or Asian Carp caught in a muddy farm pond. Even marinated and grilled it was about unedible but would be fine if I was starving!

Don't have them in these parts. Can you actually eat one of them with no harm to yourself. There must be a certain cleaning method.

i'm curious how thats cooked my dads buddy told him the oyster toad was the chicken of the sea it stunk up the place and ruined the pan, we assumed another of his pranks:facepalm:

Sea Cucumber, caught a few in my crab pots a few yrs back. It's body color was bright orange very jello like, dam ugly but you have to cook it just right according to my freind's wife(who cooked it) I really forgot how it tasted though? I might have drank 4-5 beers before i ate it.
