Re: Whats this about income taxes???
The agreement made by Bush, Pelosi and a few others was for $600/$1200. The $500/$1,000 is what some other folks want, along with provisions that will give rebates to retired folks, plus an extension of unemployment benefits for people who's 26 week benefits have run out. The original deal was a bipartizan effort and the attempts to include the other stuff seems to be bipartizan as well - both Dems & Pubs have been trying to get the adds to the bill. The reality of the whole thing is that, either way, its a "feel good" effort that is very unlikely to solve root economic issues.
In my opinion, until earnings catch up to the rapid increase in energy costs, the economy will be stressed because Americans simply can not afford the increases in everything that they buy and use, until they start seeing pay increases that match the inflation that is taking place.
