Mine is usually covered when at home or on the road. But when I am in Maine it stays in the water and is being used ALL day and I don't see the need to cover it at night.

But that is only 3 weeks out of the year.

after having to completely redo the interior on my boat including the floor...it gets covered every time after use. period.

I dont want a drop of rainwater or ray of sunshine hitting the interior when I'm not using it. I let the el cheapo harbor freight tarps take all the damage.

Here's my "cover" although as I said earlier I do cover with a cover in the offseason and when pollen is bad.

Had my Ranger Bass Boat garaged in Oregon ALWAYS!! My freind in the BassClub didn't. He just "tarped it" during the rainy season, and let the sun eat his gel-coat away. He paid 1500.00 TWICE in ten years to keep the finish looking good, and I paid 0! Just TLC!!! Even with a cover the sun can get through unless it's real thick! But keeping a roof over a boat is the BEST! In my opinion... D

I cover my boat every time; it does not take but an extra few minutes to protect the interior from the elements.

As long no rain is expected the cover comes off on Friday and goes back on Sunday... If we go out on a weekday it all depends on time of day we get done and the weather..

Didn't vote, like sbooy42, it comes off Friday and back on Sunday. I use it about 10 times during that period, but it stays on a lift with a roof, so its kind of covered anyway.

Oh yeah, before the lift it stayed in my garage when not on the lake, never with a boat cover, but inside.

Mooring cover whenever we are not going out of the slip, camp covers when we are out on the lake- bimini top atleast. Full cover stem to stern waterline up every winter.

Mines covered anytime its not going to the water. Cover comes off before leaving and back on as soon as we get home. Before we moved, my neighbor had a mesquite tree, those danged leaves ALWAYS found their way into every crack and crevice of my boat (moring cover), truck, car, yard etc, so I went to a full cover. Also great for keeping the occasional cat or bird out of it and makes a thief think twice before taking the plunge to gain access. Too many pros and very few cons.

Dang, I need me one of those. Having the cover on in the driveway prevents me from getting on board and making engine noises whenever I want. ;)

But seriously, if I ever finance a new(er) boat, I gots to be getting me one of them boat/car ports.

Boat gets covered when not in use always, even under the carport. I dont have water problem as my boat has no wood at all. Even though under cover when not in use, i still have to compound, wax and polish every 3 months or it will begin to fade and oxidize. My boat is red though, which is bad for fading quickly in my opinion. I agree it depends on the boat, location and how you want your boat to look in a few years, unless you just want to restore the paint or gel coat. I say cover it, don't take long and well worth the effort.

Does moisture build up under the cover and are you supposed to uncover it periodically if it is not put in the water for a whille?

Depends on how humid it is. If I am planning on not using the baot for a week or so, I put 2 damprid canisters in there to keep it from happening. I have never uncovered mine unless I was using it. Of course it doesnt usually sit more than a week or 2 at a time anyway.

Re: When do you cover your boat - everytime you use it?

I get to park mine in my father-in-laws huge quonset hut during the boating season, stays out of the sun and the elements and then we pull it into another one of his buildings in the winter, it's a bit wet in there, but it doesn't freeze, just has some condensation due to the temperature change in the floor above. So, other than when I am taking it out, it is in some sort of large shed...

I put two vents in my cover, one at the windshield and then one at the high spot where my rear support is, if not it gets damp and moldy in there if it sits too long. like in the winter when we don't boat as much.

Always covered when not in use.

I hate cats

I don't let my dogs pee in my neighbors' boat, yard, etc. But I guess my neighbor doesn't feel the same way about his stupid cats.

He is lucky they are still alive.

Mine gets covered after it has been washed. Some weekends we get back too late for me to want to wash it. So it sits under the shelter uncovered. But as soon as I wash it, backs it goes under the shelter and back with the cover. The cover has only seen direct rain once, but the cover protects it from birds, dust, and the sun!

Use bow and cockpit cover when mooring and when parked in or out of garage. When I store it for the winter inside a building I also use a universal cover, keeps bird and crap off bow/cockpit covers.

i cover my most everytime unless its wet and needs to dry out and i always check the weather before i decide to leave it uncovered.. now it really doesn't matter as the boat just sunk and i'm hoping my insurance covers it..it did look great for a '99 do to the fact that previous oweners always kept it covered..
