When should I start dating again so it doesn't look like I'm on the rebound? I feel ready.

Re: When?

Who cares whether it "looks like" you are on the rebound? Do what feels right, Magster.

If you fret about what your life "looks like" you will be eternally damned to please others rather than yourself. If you don't please yourself, you will never please anyone else.

Emotional healing takes time, just like physical healing. Physical healing is accellerated by physical activity (within limits). It seems to me that emotional activity, at a restrained level, can do the same for your spirit.

Re: When?

Roscoe has a good point, wait to introduce someone new to you son. Kids often don't understand what happened and sometimes blame themselves. I have seen it happen with family and friends. Everyone here has good advice, even Rubberfrog. :D

But hey, what do I know, my last "date" was in Oct 98 with my wife, when I was still married.

Re: When?

I'm with JB yet again.

There is no magic timetable etc. Just be reasonably patient and cautious. I agree about the kid stuff from roscoe and J Kopec, but not the arbitrary timetables. The six months or 2009. If there are anythings that irritate or warning bells early, run . . .

Re: When?

It was just a few weeks ago that we split but that relationship died a slow painful death. I really haven't had a 'girlfriend' for 4 or 5 months. She did look after me... or was I looking after her... 'physically' but there was little companionship, if any. The reason I posed the question is I mentioned the 'soccer mom' before... she came over to my place on Halloween (I do fireworks and hot dogs for the kids every year) with my sister and 'the gang'. I had a chance to chat with her for a while and she seems to be a really nice lady, good sense of humor, good looking... doesn't seem 'crazy' or to be the type that will stay up all night at the neighbors :) .
I'm going to take her out. I don't think there's any point in waiting. FYI, yes my son was there and met her too but for him I'm sure she was just another face in the crowd that night. There was a lot of people there he hasn't met before. You shoulda' seen his face when the fireworks were going off... it was awesome.

Note to self; buy a new camera, my stinkin' unit doesn't work worth a crap at night. None of the pictures turned out.
