Generally the tan and tan with trace are alarm wires. They would go to the warning buzzer and it's logic.

Black is ground. Not sure what brown/black is.

It is unlike the wiring on my '98 Johnny 150HPV6.

I’m not sure either
I can’t find anywhere it goes and it came from this motor lol
I was told it was a 1997 but clearly it is not as it has the canon plug connector still so it’s 95 or earlier
I bought the adapter kit to go to my newer control
Hopefully that harness has the spot for it

The oil tank would have tan/black and black(ground) going to the level sensor.

I suppose that plug could be for a 3 wire VRO alarm set. It would need the purple wire to make it work, along with the alarm logic. See if the tan wire goes to the cylinder head overheat sender.

My '98 has Amphenol and Deutsch connectors, instead of the big red plug.

I have an 97 Evinrude 200. I'll look when I get home this evening but going by the wire colors in the manual, the wires are ground, low oil, no oil and overheat.

ok so i got the new harness adapter . got it all hooked up, turn key on, does the self check, all warning lights come back on when i start the motor. runs good for a few seconds until the lights come on and then, slow mode?? or something happens, i ve checked and replaced the shift interupt switch. everything else is normal.
so the lights that come on are no oil, hot, chk engine, and low oil. they all come on????
ill try to upload a video
upon further investigation the timer base is really sticky, it is now off and getting a new washer as all parts are new from previous owner
i did a swap from a 1998 j200pleeb to a ocean runner power head? is there a big difference in the harnesses? idk.. this is an older power head than my original motor
i believe this to be a j200txeo model not sure because the serial is gone from salt , i also am running this in fresh water now , the power head was put on my existing mid and lower. ill try get another video if needed or pics of anything you guys need to help me out . thanks in advance

i will upload more videos as i work on it

Ok soo i got this motor running
New power pack, stator, trigger, new plugs, cleaned carbs, cleaned fuel tank, took it out of boat, replaced all fuel lines, new plugs,
Runs good on hose, will not run in water, still sounds like it’s losing ignition, sync n link was done also
Bogs off start, through the mid range it cleans up a bit and on top end it has a miss still ??? I’m at a loss
Starboard comp top to bottom
110
110
100
Port is the same
What’s the primary coil to ground supposed to read on my coils?
Secondary is .248
I got cold coming on weds
Any help would be great
Thanks again….
