I have a 1985 Evinrude 150 HP. I overheated really bad on sunday and along with the other problems it caused that i have to figure out and fix i want to replace the thermostat to cover all ends so it doesnt overheat again. Does anyone know where it is on the motor? Also ever since it overheated on Sunday i cant get it started again. I have spark but it wont fire. And for some reason the starter will turn the flywheel fast when i dont push the key in to choke it but as soon as i do push the choke in and rtry to start it the starter slows down. Any suggestions on why?

Sounds like you have glazed the cylinders and have low/no compression.

That ain't gonna be pretty!

That sounds very bad. Is that why the starter slows down when i engage the choke?

Also, is there a way to get the glaze off without taking it apart and doing each CYL? Is there a fluid or spray i can inject into each CYL through the spark plug hole?
