Re: where to boat in Indiana/lakes

Hey Treeman,
Definitely Cagles Mill. It's not nearly as big as the other reservoirs in the state, but definitely a very nice one.
We live between Anderson and Muncie, but have very good friends that live in Cloverdale, and we've spent a number of days with them on that lake. We've trailered our boat to their house on Fridays, then spent all day on the lake Sturday, and most of Sunday afternoon after church. On none of the days we've been there has it been very crowded. If you go, keep in mind that it has two main sections connected by a small channel. The channel looks like a cove, so if you don't know the lake, you wont' know it's a channel.
A nice feature is that on the northern part, there is a beach that that is around 200 yards long, but only the center 100 yards or so are for swimmers. The rest allows you to beach the boat, if that's what you want to do, if not, you can get as close to the beach as you want.
We've used that many times since we had a small (16') boat, and there was a total of 9of us, so we'de set up a picnic on the beach, and take turns being on the boat or on the beach. It's probably the most fun we've had on any Indiana lake.
I'm jealous, you're only about 30 minutes from it. Try it, you'll like it.
Have fun,

Jorge

We do some boating on Brookvill lake. Its a big lake with all kinds of room for everyone. Lots of ramps and docks with places to eat etc. Its on the other side of the state from you. www.lrl.usace.army.mil/bvl

Lake Wawasee. half way between Ft. Wayne and South Bend. It's Indiana's largest NATURAL lake (there are some larger reservoirs). It's also very close to the continental divide so there's less opportunity for polluting runoff from neighboring farms. It is sooooo clean!

All the lakes mentioned are great lakes to go to. We do alot of fishing out of our deck baot. I like Raccoon, Monroe, Padoka, also in Ill. there is Mill Creek, Shelbyville, and Clinton lake. I live by Newport about 20 miles from you. Hope you have a great season, and God Bless. Roger

I can?t believe more people didn?t mention Lake Monroe. The largest body of water in Indiana besides the great lakes.

We boat at Lake Monroe; our boat would not fit anywhere else except Brookville or the great lakes. We have a Regal, 34ft cruiser. Her name is ?Bear Necessities 2? We keep her docked at Fourwinds resort marina. :D

Lake Monroe is an incredibly beautiful lake with lots of stuff to see and do. Four winds resort marina on the south/west side of the lake has yearly, seasonal, or nightly slips, they have a great Bar & Grill and a restaurant, Hotel, swimming pool, and the landscaping is tropical and beautiful. ;)

The North east side of the lake has Cutright marina, with fuel and a small store. Also Payne town state dock with slips and fuel.

Monroe offers great fishing, boating, and tons of wild life to observe. You will find us most weekends at the dam or party cove ?Allans creek? hanging out and partying.:D

The down fall is for smaller boats the lake can get rough on busy weekends and holidays, boating is best during the week unless you like the big crowds.

Happy Boating:D

Have you been to Wawasee? It's definitely smaller than Monroe but there are a ton of 34 footers on it.

Anyone (from the Indiana area) notice the get together that's currently being planned in Florida? I think Tashasdaddy is organizing it, not that that matters. Anyone think that would be a fun thing to do in this area? I'd enjoy doing something like that IF it could be worked out with convenient dates/locations.
