Which power pack does what?

I have weak, intermittent spark on the two lower cylinders of my 1981 90hp Johnson. Does the starboard pack supply power to the starboard side and the port pack the port? Meaning I'll need both power packs?

With the age of that motor, it is likely no shop will want to work on it. Since you are on your own, why not get a factory service manual for it.

The wiring diagram on the maxrules site suggests one powerpack for cyl 1,3 and the other for cyl 2,4. If I were you I would test the trigger and stator before buying new parts.
