White Paint Opinion

I just picked up some white VALSPAR...also some gloss black. Going to shoot it on my fiberglass boat. The white is not an off white and I don't know if this is going to be too white. The original color looks like a cream white. Any of you have an opinion on this. IS THE WHITE TOO WHITE or should I got the tan color. Thanks.

Also can I make the white look glossy...or do I have to clear it to do that. THanks.

I also prepped by sanding 320 on areas that I will paint and wiped down with a degreaser/wax cleaner. taped areas...now just need to shoot. sound good?

i don't know for sure but you might be able to mix a very small amount of the black in with your wight to darken it just a bit you would end up with a grayish white, or you could get a small amount of yellow to mix in.

Yep, and they also reflect a lot of sun. I repainted my interior on one boat light gray for just that reason. The only part I want bright white is the roof of the cabin to keep it cool

The White is definately TOO white. I repainted a runabout 10 years ago and painted it with Petit Easypoxy Brite White. It would honestly hurt your eyes to look at it in the sun.

I specifically purchased Petit Easypoxy Off-White this time on my recent resto based on past experience.

Re: White Paint Opinion

If you want a gloss finish use a gloss paint. The color has nothing to do with the final sheen. A bright white can come in different sheen levels : gloss, semi-gloss, satin, eggshell, flat. You can change a paint's color but can't do much about the sheen. Unless you get additives and such but stay away from all of that.
Pick your color - pick your level of shine ( sheen ). :D
